In the past, Easter Sunday meant dressing up in new, ruffled, pastel Easter dresses with lots of lace and eyelet, matching hats, and those little, soft, white gloves. We’d pile in the car, and head to Easter Sunday services that were filled with singing, and sanctuaries overflowing with white lilies and amaryllis. And of course, after the services, it was on to an Easter brunch at a special restaurant to enjoy plates filled with ham, quiche, spring veggies, and delicious desserts. At home, there were brightly colored Easter baskets filled with bright green grass, and chocolate bunnies and colorful Easter eggs to devour. Whatever your Easter traditions and memories are, you’ll be able to enjoy them – or make some new memories – here in Rangeley on your Maine Easter vacation.

Rangeley Easter Services
You don’t have to miss your Easter services when spending your Easter vacation here in Rangeley. Local churches will be filled with music, flowers and joyful congregants just like in your home town. There may still be some restrictions, so be sure to check on that ahead of time and remember that things can change at any minute.
If you’re not ready to join a crowd yet, don’t worry, you can still enjoy a meaningful worship service. Many religious institutions will be streaming their services again this year, so you may even be able to enjoy your own church’s Easter service. If your home church isn’t having a virtual service, why not start a new tradition and watch the Pope give his Easter mass from the Vatican? It’ll be streaming live as will the Washington National Cathedral’s service. You can enjoy one (or more) services from the comfort of your vacation rental, with a view of Saddleback Mountain, Bald Mountain, or Rangeley Lake in the background. Order some bright white floral arrangements ahead of time so your vacation rental will be filled with lovely lilies and their scent.
Easter Sunrises Services
You can get up early and watch a sunrise service on one of the big flat screens (with free Wi-Fi) in your rental, or you can step outside on your deck or porch and watch the sun rise over the mountains and have your own service. Be sure to book a vacation rental that faces east, (give us a call for help in finding the right rental with the right view). Wrap up in a blanket, maybe have the first cup of coffee in hand, and watch the world come alive while you take the time to rejoice your own way.
Head to Quill Hill or Height of Land and watch the sun rise over the mountains. Height of Land is one of the most picturesque spots around, with breathtaking views of the surrounding forests, lakes, and mountains. Both are great spots for sunsets too! It’s a beautiful way to start your Rangeley Easter Sunday.
Easter Brunch
If your family memories and traditions include eating Easter brunch out, you can do that too. Don’t forget to call ahead of time for reservations, verify the menu and hours of operation and other information. A few nice dining spots are The Rangeley Tavern, Saddleback Resort, Loon Lodge Inn or the 45th Parallel Wood Fired Grille. Or go more casual with Parkside & Main or The Shed.
Don’t want to eat out? Order take-out or just pick up everything you need to make your family’s favorite Easter brunch while you’re in downtown Rangeley, then you can easily fix the brunch they want and love. Our rentals come with fully equipped kitchens, many have spacious, separate dining rooms, and they all have outdoor dining areas where you can enjoy your Easter ham and carrot cake with the lake view if the weather is nice.
Easter Baskets and Colorful Eggs
It wouldn’t be Easter without Easter eggs and chocolate bunnies. If your kids are looking forward to an egg hunt, Saddleback’s annual Easter Egg Hunt is on again this year (so far). They have several free egg hunts (based on ages) and kids can have their picture taken with the Easter Bunny.
As a backup plan, in case things go south again and schedules change, why not rent a Rangeley vacation home with a nice, big backyard? There will be plenty of space to hide eggs and Easter treats, plus you can schedule the family egg hunt for the time that works best for you.
