THE NORTHERN FOREST CANOE TRAIL

It is a 740-mile long water trail that extends from the very top of Maine at Fort Kent and links Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, (scoots into Canada), and ends in the upper middle of New York state at Old Forge. 347 miles of this trail are in Maine with our region offering a connected series of large lakes – Rangeley, Mooselookmeguntic, the Richardsons, and Umbagog. Lots of undeveloped, conserved land with vast wildlife habitats and excellent opportunities to observe eagles, loons, heron, are present on this trail. Enjoy a day, overnight, or longer stretch of time following this historic water path.
