Time to ramp up your Valentine’s Day game. Skip the flowers, jewelry, and chocolates this year and try something new. Well, maybe keep the chocolates and jewelry because who doesn’t love those, but there’s probably still plenty of room for improvement. It’s time to add a few memories that neither of you will ever forget. Bring your special someone to Rangeley this year for an amazing Rangeley Valentine’s Day.
The Rangeley Lakes Region
Situated at the very center of the Rangeley Lakes Region in western Maine, Rangeley is surrounded by water – all types of water, from swift flowing rivers, crystal clear mountain lakes, still ponds to beautiful bogs. When you book one of our waterfront rental cozy cabins, you’re well on your way to a memorable Valentine’s Day. Sitting out by the fire pit, holding hands, overlooking one of the area’s lakes as the sun goes down is a pretty good way to end the day.
Activities for Your Rangeley Valentine’s Day
This is Valentine’s Day, a day to spend time with your sweetie. Maybe it’s time to renew that romance when you first got together, or maybe it’s just a time to take things nice and easy and take a break from the hectic life you’ve been living. As long as you’re together, it doesn’t really matter what you do. Don’t forget to take time to remind each other why you’re still together.
Enjoy the water! Take a guided kayak trip or boat cruise! And, since it is Valentine’s Day in Rangeley, we suggest a Sunset Cruise. Not only will you enjoy the colorful sunset on the water, but you’ll enjoy beautiful scenery and local wildlife during the cruise. Maybe even a moose!
Enjoy the outdoors! Of course, in February there’s still plenty of snow on the ground, so you can still enjoy all those outdoor snowy activities you both love. Head to Saddleback Ski Area with over 60 alpine ski trails and glades where you can hit the trails on snowshoes, snowboards, or skis, or rent snowmobiles for a little more zip.
Enjoy the view! While hiking along the waterfront or boating on the lake are great ways to spend the day, here’s your chance to take things up a notch. Take a tour of the Rangeley Lakes region by seaplane. It’s an easy way to get a new perspective on the entire region. And it’s fun too!
Stay in your cabin! It’s ok to stay around your cabin and enjoy each other’s company, especially if it’s snowy outside. Book one of our cozy mountain cabins or secluded lake-front cabins with a fire pit and lake view where you can spend the day inside in front of the fire talking or outside snowshoeing or hiking around the lake. Pack lots of candles, plenty of your favorite foods and drink, then snuggle down in front of the roaring fireplace to enjoy the flickering glow of candles and each other.
Attractions to See on Your Valentine’s Day
Height of the Land is must-see for every visitor to the lakes region, any day of the year. With one of the most amazing overlooks in the northeast, you can enjoy picturesque views of the surrounding forested lake region, including Mooselookmeguntic and Richardson Lakes, as well as the White Mountains in New Hampshire. While here, you can hike a section of the Appalachian Trail, and learn about the area’s history and wildlife on the “Conservation Walk.” Or just take a quiet drive together along the Rangeley Lakes National Scenic Byway and enjoy amazing views every inch of the way.
Look for moose! There are over 70,000 moose in the state, so if you take your time, and pick your spot carefully, you have a pretty good chance of seeing one. Try “Moose Alley” (Route 16 between Rangeley and Stratton), or Route 17 just south of Height of the Land. Look for young trees (they love the tender young buds), and look in mud hollows and ponds. And the best time of the day to look – dusk and dawn, rain or shine. Hunt on your own, or take a guided moose-spotting adventure.
