Annual Frog Jumping Contest

  • Catch and Release:
    To keep the frogs happy and healthy, all participants must release their frogs in the same location they were caught.
  • Frog Supplies:
    Limited buckets and nets are available starting at noon, but you’re encouraged to bring your own if possible.

    Wild blueberries are harvested from late July to early September, often by hand using a special rake invented 112 years ago by Maine’s own Abijah Tabbutt.

    Known as “star berries” by the indigenous Wabanaki people due to their five-pointed blossoms, blueberries have been enjoyed for centuries before European settlers arrived.
  • Maine’s Blueberry Festivals:
    These celebrations began in 1960 to promote Maine’s thriving blueberry industry, which continues to be a source of pride and tradition.
