Situated in the heart of Franklin County, Rangeley Lake is one of several that define the landscape known as the Rangeley Lakes region of Maine. Covering 6,000 acres of land and reaching a maximum depth of 149 feet in some places, Rangeley Lake is one of the area’s most well-known natural attractions worth checking out while you’re here. Surrounded by lush foliage, towering trees, and rocky shorelines, Rangeley Lake is home to a variety of local and migratory bird species that are worth observing with the help of binoculars. Within the waters, anglers will find they have access to everything from brook and brown trout to yellow perch, smelt, and salmon.

Mooselookmeguntic Lake

Combined with nearby Cupsuptic Lake, Mooselookmeguntic Lake encompasses an impressive 16,300 acres of land and hosts a maximum depth measurement of 123 feet. Several boat launches line the lake, making it easy to get out on the waves and fish or explore. This lake is also part of the greater Androscoggin Watershed and connects with Cupsuptic Lake at the northern end.

Cascade Stream Gorge Trail

For hikers at heart that can’t resist a trail that leads to an inspiring cascade or two, the Cascade Stream Gorge Trail is a route to a wonderful natural attraction you won’t want to miss out on while you’re here. The trail itself is considered an easy trek, providing a simple 1-mile out and back loop that comes with the reward of a stop at the gorge and waterfalls within the lush foliage the trail cuts through.
