First Week of July Events in Rangeley
July 1-5: The Rangeley Friends of the Arts presents Chicago, the musical
Start July with a bang as the Rangeley Friends of the Arts present Chicago, the iconic musical filled with jazz, scandal, and showbiz. Set in the roaring 1920s, the story follows Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly—two rival murderesses fighting for fame and freedom. With unforgettable music, sharp satire, and Fosse-inspired choreography, this production promises high-energy entertainment. Shows run July 1, 2, and 4 at 7 p.m., with a matinee on July 5 at 4 p.m. Tickets are available online or at the box office (Tues–Sat, 10am–2pm).
July 2nd: A Visit with Chris Van Dusen – 11am
Award-winning Maine children’s author and illustrator Chris Van Dusen will visit the Rangeley Public Library on Wednesday, July 2 from 11am-12pm. He’ll read from his books, share artwork, and demonstrate his illustration process, followed by a Q&A. This free event is open to all—call or stop by the library to reserve your spot, and don’t forget to bring a book for signing!
July 2nd: Oquossoc Village Walking Tour – 11am
Explore the charm of Oquossoc Village with a one-hour guided walking tour starting at 11:00 a.m. from the Outdoor Heritage Museum. Along the way, you’ll learn about the area’s early history, view vintage images from the Historic Rangeley collections, and see where some of the region’s first buildings once stood!
July 3rd
July 3rd: Rangeley Doll Carriage Parade – 10am
The Children’s Doll Carriage Parade is a cherished local tradition that kicks off at 10am at the Rangeley Inn & Tavern and winds its way to Town Park. Young participants decorate their carriages with creative flair, drawing big smiles from the crowd. At the end of the parade, an awards ceremony recognizes standout entries for their originality and festive spirit!
July 3rd: Face Painting – TBD!
Stop by Morton & Furbish for festive face painting with Rebecca Reed of Beauty and the Brush—look for the hot pink tent! She’ll be creating colorful designs for all ages, and we’ll have popsicles, glow sticks, and cold water to keep things cool. It’s all free (tips are appreciated), so come say hi and join the fun!
July 3rd: Joan Frost Memorial Art and Craft Fair – 10am
At 10am, the Joan Frost Memorial Art and Craft Fair kicks off in Town Park, showcasing the work of talented local artists and craftspeople. It’s the perfect place to find one-of-a-kind handmade goods and enjoy the creative spirit of the Rangeley community.
July 3rd: Non-Profits in the Park – 10am
Starting at 10am in Town Park, local nonprofit organizations will be set up in the park, offering classic summer fare like hot dogs and snacks to raise funds for their community programs. It’s a tasty way to support great local causes while enjoying the festivities.
July 3rd: Downtown Farmer’s Market – 10am
The Downtown Farmers Market takes place from 10am–2pm in the Depot Street Parking Lot, offering a vibrant mix of local goods. Browse fresh organic produce, meats, handmade products, and works by talented local artists. It’s a great spot to shop, explore, and connect with the community.
July 3rd: The Great American Dog Parade – 1pm
The Great American Dog Parade kicks off at 1:00 PM, bringing plenty of wagging tails and red, white, and blue flair. Local dogs and their proud owners dress up in patriotic style, making this heartwarming parade a highlight of the day.
July 3rd: DJ Spinning the Hits – 3pm
At 3pm, a live DJ takes over Town Park, filling the air with music to get everyone dancing and smiling. Whether you’re relaxing in the sun or joining in the fun, it’s the perfect soundtrack for an afternoon of fun with family and friends!
July 3rd: Fireworks – 9pm
Don’t miss the grand finale—a dazzling fireworks show at 9pm in Town Park. As the sky lights up with vibrant colors and booming bursts, it’s the perfect ending to a fun-filled day in Rangeley!
July 4th: Stars & Stripes 5K Run/Walk & Kids Fun Run – 9am
Join the community for the Stars and Stripes Event, featuring a 5K Run/Walk and a free Kids Fun Run and Obstacle Course through scenic downtown Rangeley. The route is paved, family-friendly, and offers lake views from the start and finish at the Rangeley Health and Wellness Pavilion. With prizes, goody bags, and patriotic spirit, it’s a fun way to get active and support a great local cause. Sign up here!
July 5th: Walking Tour – 11am
Step back in time with a guided walking tour of downtown Rangeley, starting at 11:00 a.m. from the Rangeley History Museum. These one-hour, one-mile tours explore the sites of the town’s earliest buildings and businesses, enriched with historic photos and stories from the Gilded Age. Space is limited to 10 people, so arrive early!
