Serendipity

I’m sure that anyone who searches for a vacation spot from afar always worries if what you see over a computer screen will meet expectations, Serendipity exceeded them and dismissed any concerns from the minute we got out of the car, and only got better upon entering the house. This was a home run that turned into a grand slam as the week progressed. The house had every possible amenity you need. It’s not a high end over the top house, but perfectly suited for everyday folks who love Maine and cherish each day you’re there. The location is absolutely perfect. It’s quiet, located on a no engine pond ( a non-negotiable must ) with a 35 yard walk to the dock. We enjoyed each sunset with loons calling across the pond. The proximity to Oquossoc Village in 5 mins is terrific. The museum is filled with an abundance of historical artifacts and information about Rangeley, the Oquossoc Store (great for lunch, burgers) is reasonably priced and has great service, along with the Farmers Daughter. It didn’t seem possible a short drive back would take us to the peaceful Serendipity. The many hiking trails are close, downtown Rangeley is 10 mins away, it’s an overall great location.
The team of knowledgeable and responsive rental agents helped me find exactly what I was looking for. They listened carefully, and if they weren’t 100% sure about a question, they consulted a colleague for an accurate answer. Morton & Furbish really get customer service and the service experience. Our well behaved dog was in heaven.
I wholeheartedly recommend Serendipity for your trip to Rangeley.

This was a nice house for my family to stay in while we explored the Rangeley area for a week. The big yard was well maintained and a great area for the kids to play. The firepit area was nice. It felt secluded, but still an easy drive to town, trails, and lakes. Quimby pond provided a lovely and serene view. We loved our downtime sitting on the deck and reading.

Serendipity was the perfect place to gather with our family and especially our family visiting from Hawaii! The setting on Quimby Pond was so peaceful and hearing the Loons is always something to look forward to. It is also so appreciated to find nice dog friendly rentals!

Not only was the property beautiful on its own but the caretakers and office personnel were on top of all the details! Everything was well laid out, every item were might have needed was available, every question we asked was answered quickly and kindly, and we plan to make it an annual stay! We loved it!

We had a great and restful time at Serendipity, and our 2 pups enjoyed it too! It was very peaceful and private with very few neighbors. From canoeing on peaceful Quincy Pond to nighttime fires and loon calls and bald eagle singings…we enjoyed it all! The kitchen was well stocked with all the necessary cookware and dishes as well as some basic cooking staples (oils, spices). The master bed was very comfortable, and my 6’2” tall husband appreciated the California king mattress length. We will surely be back!

We had a great stay this year in Rangeley and enjoyed taking the canoe and kayaks out on the lake! Would definitely recommend Portage Tap House!

Lovely and restful waterfront cottage. Very well supplied with everything you need for cooking. Big outdoor space for lawn games and two kayaks and a canoe to enjoy the peaceful pond. We very much enjoyed our stay here.

Serendipity is the perfect spot for a relaxing vacation. It is immaculately clean, and the large, bright, open-concept kitchen is very well equipped with everything you could possibly need for meal prep and dining. The dining area seats 8 in front of big windows that provide a fantastic view of Quimby Pond (with your own private dock) and the lawn leading down to it (with a fire pit and plenty of chairs for gathering around it). There's outdoor dining on the elevated deck off the kitchen with a retractable canopy. There are 2 bedrooms on the first floor – a queen bed in one and a triple bunk in the other – and 2 more upstairs with a king bed in one and movable twins in the other. There is a bathroom on both floors, and plenty of towels and bedding is provided. The finished basement is a great area for gathering to watch TV. An alcove off the main area has a table and chairs, the perfect spot for playing cards or other games – and a great variety of games are provided. Also on this level is the laundry room. The basement has direct access to the outdoors and lots of hooks to hang outerwear. I have stayed at Serendipity in both the summer and winter and have found it very comfortable in either season. The gas fireplace on the main level and the main heating system kept me toasty warm in the winter. Also, it was reassuring to know that it has a whole-house generator to provide electricity should there be a power outage in the area. This beautiful property sits in a quiet, peaceful setting conveniently located approximately 5 miles from the Rangeley town center, so trips into town are easy. I also appreciated that it was easy to find because of the excellent signage leading me in. I can't say enough good things about Serendipity. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars. It is perfect!

It was great spending time with our family. The camp was equipped with everything needed. The kitchen has all kind of accessories. It was a home away from home. Great location.

We all loved both the house and the setting. Having use of the kayaks was terrific. Kitchen very well equipped and everything was sparkling clean. The view was the very best of all!!

The place is amazing: incredible view of the lake and mountains from the house, steps to the lake to take a swim or a ride in kayaks, lots of space for dogs to run... Couldn't be more happy. We had a group of 8 - three generations of our family - and everybody was very happy with the settings and arrangements, and if you know young adults - that's a rarity. Very relaxing vacation!

Beautiful memorial weekend on Quimby Pond. Got out in the kayaks during the day. Drifted to sleep to the sound of the loons. Wonderful time bonding with my 20 y.o. daughter, painting the newly finished basement. Her first time at Serendipity and she loves it almost as much as I do. Saw a baby moose casually eating clover as we left. Heaven.

Terrific house for a family! We were up for the week skiing at Saddleback and the house was a great fit for us (two adults, three kids, one dog). The living room is cozy, the kitchen has everything you need and we had beds to spare. The house has direct access to Quimby Pond as well, so we enjoyed taking the dog down there to play on the snow-covered ice. All in all a great spot; we'd choose it again!
