Picturesque Rangeley is the perfect place to celebrate the upcoming Maine 4th of July holiday. Surrounded by gorgeous mountains and beautiful lakes, there is no shortage of options for adventures waiting to be had in our cozy town. Whether visiting with family, friends, or on a romantic getaway, Rangeley has something for any occasion. For the water lovers, there are several kayaking water trails and plenty of lakes to explore. Our fly-fishing is legendary as Rangeley is known as the birthplace of contemporary fly-fishing. While our waterfront is vast and plenty, so is our land. Of course, the water isn’t the only main attraction here at Rangeley. There are numerous hiking and mountain biking trails open to guests. Want to see all of Rangeley at once? That’s certainly possible. Rangeley offers sky tours in an Acadian seaplane that’ll take you high above and show you the grand masterpiece that is Rangeley, Maine.

Rangeley is not short of any fun to be had. There is something to be offered at every corner, something suitable to all inclinations of adventure.

Water Adventures

The expansive waterfront is quite the sight to behold, and one of the best ways to see the stunning land surrounding Rangeley is by kayaking. The serene views of the Kennebago River and gentle water make for a leisurely kayak trip fit for children and adults. Pack a picnic and pick a spot along the way while you’re kayaking down the river. The Cupsuptic River is another waterfront available for kayaking, as well as the Northern Forest canoe trail. The Northern Forest canoe trail offers a more extensive canoeing experience with its 740-mile long path connecting the farthest point of Maine in Fort Kent and New Hampshire, Vermont; this trail ends in the upper side of the middle of New York state and even passes briefly through Canada. The Northern Forest trail is largely in Maine, with 347 miles in the region with connecting lakes such as Rangeley, Mooselookmeguntic, the Richardsons, and Umbagog. This historic water trail is open for overnight camping, so any stretch of time on the water is available to you!

Rangeley is proud of its legendary background in fly fishing and is known as the birthplace of the art of contemporary fly fishing. Our many lakes, remote ponds, rivers, and streams are kept in chilled condition by the surrounding forest around Rangeley and provide a home for world-class trout and salmon. We recommend hiring a Registered Maine Guide so that you can go to the very best fishing spots and learn the best techniques. All guests over sixteen are required to have fishing licenses. Don’t have one? Not to worry! They are available for a 1-15 day purchase period if you don’t want to commit to a full-season license.

Experience The Land

The water is not the sole star of Rangeley. As abundant as the water is, so is the land. There is so much open land available with plenty of marked trails to choose from. Have a need for speed? Take a mountain bike/fat tire down one of our many renowned trails for hiking, snowmobiling, and ATV. Don’t have a bike? Rangeley Rentals has you covered! Rentals and sales are available at Saddleback Bike Shop, and full-service for bikes. Start off at the wonderful Rangeley Lakes Trail Center located on the side of Saddleback Mountain, as it is well-marked with a mapped trail system, and enjoy the wilderness of Rangeley!

How about taking to the skies? The Rangeley Fly and Dine is an air tour that shows the entirety of the land. Accompanied with a hearty meal, this two-hour excursion is sure to be memorable. For the guest who would rather be indoors, there is a local theater that presents live shows on Rangeley’s Main Street. In addition, there are three different museums, a gym, a library, and a number of local restaurants.

Lodging

There is a wide selection of rentals to choose from. The largest property offered houses up to fourteen guests for larger parties, and each property has plenty of room and personal space. The last thing someone wants while on vacation is feeling like they are cramped into a tight space, making it hard to feel like rest is possible, but Rangeley Rentals homes guarantee cozy and clean-living spaces. Have some pets you want to bring on vacation? There are pet-friendly available rentals, as well!

Do you have a specific lake in Rangeley you want to stay at?  Reservations can be specific to your desired location, with a range of homes to choose from that best suit your needs. In addition, Rangeley rentals are separated by area, so when selecting the cottage you’ll be staying in, you’ll be able to cater to your experience by searching through the rentals offered at each lake.
