For Spectators: Fun for the Whole Family

Not playing but still want to join in the fun? Spectators are always welcome! The Rangeley Skating Club offers free skate rentals at Rangeley Adventure Co. for anyone who wants to hit the community rink on Haley Pond throughout the weekend. It’s the perfect way to get into the winter spirit and experience the excitement of the festival up close.

To keep you warm and comfortable between games, we’ll also have a giant heated tent where you can relax, enjoy snacks, and stay cozy while watching the action. It’s the perfect place to gather with friends, watch the games, and warm up between skating sessions!

From 4-6pm, there will be horse-drawn wagon rides starting at Rangeley Adventure Co. Enjoy a scenic ride through downtown Rangeley with Charlie & Chart!

For the Players: Compete in the Pond Hockey Tournament

If you’re looking to join the action, visit the Pond Hockey Festival Facebook page or click here to go to their website. This year’s festival promises to be an exciting event with teams battling it out in 4v4, 8-player games throughout the weekend. Teams will play multiple games on Saturday and Sunday mornings with a chance to advance to the playoffs on Sunday.

Explore a variety of poses, including Standing poses, Forward extensions, Back extensions, Twists, Inversions, and Restoratives. Pranayama Each pose may be taught in stages with props, modifications, and alternatives provided, ensuring everyone can participate fully—from beginners to seasoned practitioners. Another fantastic winter activity in Rangeley is ice skating at Haley Pond. The Rangeley Skating Club maintains a public skating rink and warming hut behind the Rangeley Adventure Co on Pond Street. Enjoy free skating and even free loaner skates during business hours, with donations always welcome. There’s also lighting available for night skating, making it a magical experience under the stars!

 

Hit the Slopes at Saddleback

Don’t miss the 3rd Annual Vertical Challenge at Saddleback on Sunday, January 5th! The Vertical Challenge is a series of free casual ski and snowboard races open to all ages and abilities. In addition to the races, the mountain will be celebrating with a festival atmosphere featuring snowy activities, games, free samples, and fun prizes for all ages. Enjoy free muffins, hot cider, and cocoa while you pick up some fun holiday goodies, including games, hot cocoa kits, snowman building supplies, loaner sleds, chapstick, sparklers, and Saddleback stickers!

Downtown Rangeley Fun: Glow Ice Skating & More

On Friday the 27th, head to Haley Pond Park for an afternoon of glow ice skating, music, and plenty of festive fun. From 4-6pm, enjoy face painting at the M&F office, a horse-drawn wagon ride, and a crackling fire pit with marshmallows to roast. The Ladies Auxiliary will be serving up free food, including crockpots and sweets. This is a great way to soak in the holiday atmosphere while having a blast with friends and family.

Saddleback Après Ski Events

Hit the slopes in the morning and join the B4BC (Boarding for Breast Cancer) Robes on the Run event on the 28th at 1 PM to support breast cancer awareness. Don’t forget to bring your robes (for both adults and kids)—it’s all about cozy vibes and making a difference! Head to Saddleback Pub for some après-ski fun! Enjoy live music with TJ Swan from 3 to 6pm! After music, there will be a free fireside movie in support of B4BC with popcorn and pizza!

If you want to explore Rangeley’s downtown, enjoy a horse-drawn wagon ride! Rides start and end by Rangeley Adventure Co on Pond Street and take place from 4:30 to 6:30 PM. Take a peaceful ride through the winter landscape, sip on warm cider, and enjoy holiday treats!

Oquossoc Village Early Evening Winter Fun

Make your way to Oquossoc Village On Sunday the 29th for some extra holiday cheer! Warm up with free cookies and hot cocoa at the Oquossoc Grocery and get the M&F Pizza Party Special: two large one-topping pizzas and two bags of chips for just $35! Outside, enjoy a firepit with marshmallow roasting and sparklers, as well as a snowman-building event (supplies provided). There will even be a winter-themed ice carving demo! It’s the perfect way to spend the afternoon with the whole family.

Downtown Rangeley Fun & Cookie Decorating

On Monday from 4-6pm, get creative with some holiday cookie decorating at Classic Provisions, where you’ll enjoy free hot cider, cocoa, and cookies. Then head to Haley Pond for a second round of Glow Ice Skating, followed by a firepit with marshmallows and music. It’s the perfect way to relax after a fun-filled day.

Celebrate New Year’s Eve at Saddleback

Start your New Year’s celebration at Saddleback Mountain with the New Year’s Eve Alpine Dinner Celebration at the Nest—an unforgettable evening of delicious food, great company, and breathtaking mountain views (reservations required). For those looking for a family-friendly option, Saddleback Pub is offering special New Year’s Eve pub deals.

The Saddleback Ski and Ride School is hosting a New Year’s Eve Party for 5 to 13 year-olds! There will be many different activities for the kids from campfire and outdoor time to watch the fireworks to friendship bracelets and board games. The night will end with a movie showing in the Fireside Room, so make sure to bring things to get cozy. Tickets are $75 and participants can check in and out at any time between 5:00 and 10:30 from the Ski and Ride School desk with a responsible adult. 

Look to the sky for a stunning fireworks display at 7:30 PM, a perfect way to ring in the new year!

Join Saddleback’s Santa Parade down the trail Royal Tiger at 10:00 AM, happening both Saturday the 21st and Sunday the 22nd! Dress in your best holiday outfits and get ready to share the slopes with Santa himself, who’ll be making his rounds on the Sandy Chair lift till 11:00AM. It’s an event you won’t want to miss, filled with festive fun and plenty of photo ops!

From 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on both Saturday and Sunday, stop by the Morton & Furbish Saddleback Real Estate Office for another round of free Christmas cookies and hot cocoa. We love sharing the holiday cheer with our community and visitors—so come by, say hello, and enjoy a yummy treat!

Another holiday photo opportunity Santa will be available at the base lodge with professional photos taken by Saddleback’s snow reporter from 1:00 to 3:00 PM on both Saturday and Sunday!

But après-ski isn’t just about music and drinks—it’s also a great time to explore Rangeley’s quaint downtown and do some holiday shopping! If you’re looking for some festive fun, enjoy a horse-drawn wagon ride on Sunday the 22nd! Rides start and end by Rangeley Adventure Co on Pond Street and take place from 4:30 to 6:30 PM.  Take a peaceful ride through the winter landscape, sip on warm cider, and enjoy holiday treats!

Monday Holiday Festivities

Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust’s Hatchery Brook Preserve is also a great walk. The trail is a 1-mile loop with lovely waterfront benches and picnic spots to get views of Rangeley Lake
