Working Forest Tour

Craft and Vendor Fair

Cookout, Beer Garden, and Live Music
Enjoy classic grilled favorites like hamburgers and hotdogs paired with refreshing beers. Live music adds to the festive atmosphere, making it a fun outing for the whole family.
Burying of the Beans
Don’t miss the fascinating tradition where beans are buried in coals overnight—a time-honored method used by loggers to prepare hearty meals.
Saturday’s Events
Logging Parade
Start the day with the lively parade down Main Street, featuring creative floats, big rigs, fire trucks, horses, and even Smokey Bear!
Logging Festival
The action continues at the Maine Forestry Museum fairgrounds. This family-friendly event includes children’s games, face painting, balloon animals, bounce houses, and exciting excavator and barrel rides.
Opening Ceremonies
Join the Opening Ceremonies, where Smokey Bear himself makes an appearance to greet visitors and kick off the day’s festivities.
Bean Hole Dinner
Savor the traditional meal starting around 11:30 AM. The menu includes slow-cooked bean hole beans, hot dogs, sausages, coleslaw, biscuits, strawberry shortcake, and beverages from the beer garden.
Hall of Fame Inductions
Celebrate the community’s legacy where outstanding contributors to the logging tradition are honored.
Logging Competition
Don’t miss the exhilarating competitions, where 28 skilled competitors battle it out in events like axe throwing, hot sawing, crosscut sawing, and fire building. Cheer for your favorite participants and see who takes home the prizes.
